About Us
The nursery was established in 1994 and after a few years moved lock, stock and barrel - or should I say PortaKabin, water tank and 20,000 plants - from a site in Writtle in Essex to land in Abridge.(Now Coveney Nursery).
Like the great majority of gardeners the first clematis to be planted in my garden were Nelly Moser and Jackmanii. Now, if only I had the time to work in my garden, I would be planting varieties like Miniseelik, Mikelite and Pirko; all from Estonia. Gardeners appear first to be attracted to the large 'dinner-plate' cultivars, progress to the small flowered varieties and then, as eye-sight deteriorates, go back to the large flowered clematis.
The nursery stocks over 800 different clematis the rare and unusual as well as the popular varieties. We participate in many RHS shows throughout the year.
Even though I still write my letters by hand (not quite quill and ink!) I have now been told I should enter the 21st Century by having a website.
